Roads Closed North of Boise Due to Wildfire

A wildfire that started in the grasslands north of Ola, in upper Gem County, has spread overnight and is now moving towards High Valley. This has prompted road closures in the area, affecting residents and travelers alike. The fire has already grown to around 800 acres and poses a threat to structures in its path.

Gem County Road and Bridge reports that High Valley Road and Holbrook Lane are closed due to fire activity. Residents in High Valley are directed to access via Smith’s Ferry until it’s safe to reopen the roads. The fire, known as the Goldrun Fire, has been spreading rapidly due to low humidity and erratic winds. With hot and dry conditions continuing, more growth is expected, raising concerns for the safety of nearby homes and cabins in High Valley.

Although firefighters are working hard to contain the fire with indirect lines and aerial support, weather conditions could cause it to spread further. A Great Basin Type 2 Incident Management Team has been ordered as a precautionary measure to tackle the situation. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and investigating the cause of the wildfire.
For everyone’s safety, drivers need to be aware of road closures and potential evacuation orders in the affected areas. Please stay informed about the latest updates and follow instructions from emergency responders. Let’s hope for the safety of all and that the fire can be contained soon.
